ABOUT US
Agnel Polytechnic Verna, was established by the Agnel Ashram Fathers (Pilar Society) in 1980 and is a part of the sprawling Agnel Technical Educational Campus at Verna. The campus and all the institutions within are managed by the members of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier also called the Society of Pilar who are known for their pioneering efforts in the field of education and charity work having centres in different parts of the country. Currently the campus is headed by Rev Fr. Agnelo Gomes along with Rev Fr. Issac Fernandes.
Having begun with one Diploma Program, the institute has grown to offer a set of diversified diploma programs in Engineering. The main aim of the Polytechnic is to cater to the ever increasing technical man power needs of the Engineering industry in Goa and elsewhere, empower the youth of Goa through technical education and contribute to the socio – economic growth of the state and nation.
The Polytechnic is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education and affiliated to the Board of Technical Education Government of Goa. The Polytechnic in 1994 was selected to implement the World Bank assisted project for Technical Education and added two more diploma programs in addition to the existing four.
Agnel polytechnic was the only Polytechnic in the state of Goa and among the few in the western part of the country to implement the Canada India Industry Institute Linkage Project (CIIILP). The project aimed at developing Human Resource through effective industry institute linkage.
The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Maharashtra Goa region has on two occasions appreciated the Polytechnic and is the only Polytechnic in Goa to receive awards for being a clean and green campus in 2017 and in 2022 was given the best Polytechnic award.
The Polytechnic is headed by the Principal and each department in administered by the Head of Department along with faculty and staff of the respective departments. Several committees are in place for effective governance of the institute. There is also a Gymkhana committee comprising of students representative & guided by a set of faculty and staff.
The Polytechnic over the years has established itself as a leading technical education institute in the state of Goa and many of our students who have passed out are leading successful career in the industry both in India and aboard and this is due to the high importance that the institute accords to all forms of curricular, co-curricular, extracurricular and sports activities giving equal opportunities to all the students and a platform to show case their talents. Our Alumni are our brand ambassadors are in all parts of the world.
