FUNATHON 2026: A Grand Celebration of Speed, Strength, and Spirit
The Gymkhana Committee of Agnel Polytechnic once again raised the bar with FUNATHON 2026, held on 13th January 2026, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.
This one-day extravaganza was more than just a competition—it was a powerful celebration of friendship, resilience, and unity, values that truly define the Agnel Polytechnic community.
🚩 A Vibrant Start
The event commenced with a spectacular Opening Ceremony, where students assembled with discipline and precision according to their departments, showcasing unity blended with healthy competition and setting the tone for an exciting day ahead.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of our Director, Rev. Fr. Agnelo Gomes, along with Assistant Directors Rev. Fr. Vicky Hilario and Rev. Fr. Nelson Pereira.
Our Principal, Dr. Ricky T. P. Nunes, warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants. In his inspiring address, Rev. Fr. Agnelo emphasized the importance of sports in holistic development, highlighting how discipline, teamwork, and perseverance shape individuals beyond the classroom. The event was officially declared open with the release of multicoloured balloons by the Director, Principal, Heads of Departments, and the Gymkhana Committee.
⚡ Highlights from the Field
From the first whistle to the final throw, the atmosphere was electric, with record-breaking participation across events:
The Track: Blazing speed in the 100m sprints and nail-biting finishes in the Inter-Departmental Relays.
The Field: Powerful performances in shot put, technical finesse in long jump, and enthusiastic participation in events such as cricket, football, and badminton.
The Faculty Face-off: A special crowd favourite, where students cheered for their mentors, strengthening bonds through the joy of sport.
🏆 Honouring the Champions
The day concluded with a Grand Awards Ceremony, where the Director, Assistant Directors, Principal, and Heads of Departments presented medals and trophies to the winners. While accolades recognised top performers, the true victory lay in the sportsmanship, teamwork, and mutual respect displayed by every participant.
